2014年初生け: the first class of 2014~the first arrangement of 2-14

A Happy New Year!  We had our very first class of 2014.  It's called "hatsuike" (the first arrangement of the New Year).  This is the arrangement by one of the students, Sayaka.  Her arrangement is "Nishuike".

Yamaoka-sensei wore Kimono for this lesson and offered us "Otoso" (spiced medicinal sake traditionally drunk during New Year celebration in Japan) before the class was started.  Yamaoka Ikebana Class started for 2014 filled with a lot of Japanese flare.

Cheers!

Christmas Ikebana for Kids

We had Ikebana class for children.  The theme was Christmas.  We have a 5-year-old as the youngest and a 11-year-old as the oldest.  Both boys and girls joined the class.  The age range were broad; yet, all the kids were well focused on making their arrangements during the class.

We are happy to say the class was full!  We appreciate for all of your attendance.  Sensei was very pleased to see the results from all the children.  All arrangements were exceptional!  We hope to have such classes for kids from now on.
