クリスマス・デコレーション： Christmas Decorations

パックヘッドにあるSt. Philips Cathedral (セント・フィリップス教会）でクリスマス・デコレーションをしてきました。今回のお仕事は、聖堂前のホールにあるクリスマス・ツリーとホール廊下にある祭壇のデコレーションです。教会にはFlower Guild といって、教会専属のフラワーデザイナーさん達のグループがありますが、クリスマスなどの大イベントなどには、経験ある外部のフラワーデザイナー達がボランティアとして参加します。

We performed the Christmas decorations by volunteering for the Cathedral's Flower Guild members at St. Philips Cathedral in Buckhead.  We were assigned to do the Christmas tree in the hall area and decorations for an altar in the hall way to the main sanctuary.  The Cathedral has the Flower Guild who are the members dedicating their time for the flower arrangements for the Church.  For the bigger events at the Church like Christmas, experienced floral designers are assigned to make arrangements for areas need to be decorated with flowers and botanical elements.

 

 

 

 

 

 今年の聖堂ホールのクリスマスツリーは、ワシントンのホワイト・ハウスでデザインされたクリスマスツリーのレプリカ。フルーツを不断に使ったデザインです。

The design for this year's tree is the replica of the Christmas tree at the White House.  We used a lot of fruits for this.

スタジオでいけばなの撮影: Ikebana Photo Session

YAMAOKAとTERRYの作品をMarden Gallery （マーデン・ギャラリー）のスタジオにて撮影しました。撮影の前日と当日の2日間、YAMAOKAの教室で、先生達が作品を作りました。今回のテーマは、「池坊いけばな」。

The photo session for the arrangements of Yamaoka & Terry was performed at Marden Gallery.   Two days before the photo session, both Yamaoka & Terry joined at Yamaoka's Dunwoody location to create their arrangements.   Theme for this session was "IKENOBO Ikebana".

マリエッタ（Marietta)にあるギャラリーは、静かな林の中にある白い建物。
The Marden Gallery is a modern building located in a very quite area in Marietta.

カメラマンのPopi Marden（ポピー・マーデン）さんとアーティストのLamberte　Marden(ランバート・マーデン）さんは、お花が大好きで、先生達のいけばなの作品に魅了され撮影をしようと言ってくれたそうです。
Both Mr. Popi Marden (Photographer/Artist) and Mr. Lamberte Marden (Artist) generously agreed to perform the photo session for us.  Both love flowers and were happy for the beautiful arrangements by Yamaoka & Terry.


撮影も、作品一つ一つ丁寧に撮影され、順調に行われました。
Each arrangement was taken very nicely, and the session went very smoothly.

ジョージア日米協会・忘年会用ディスプレー: Floral Display for JASG

ジョージア日米協会（Japan America Society of Georgia)の忘年会用フラワーアレンジを作りました。忘年会はジョージア水族館でありました。

アレンジのディスプレーのお話はOさんから頂き、参加をさせて頂く事としました。ご紹介を頂いたOさんには感謝です！ジョージア水族館にての忘年会用として、今回はフラワーアレンジメントとギフト券を寄付することに。

We created the floral arrangement for the "Bonenkai" event (a year-end party) for Japan America Society of Georgia (JASG) at the Georgia Aquarium.  Our friend (we call her "O-san" for this blog) suggested to us that we should participate in this opportunity to perform for a community by giving our arrangement and a certificate for our Ikenobo classes or an arrangement gift.  We greatly appreciate for O-san introducing us to the association.

YAMAOKA池坊いけばな教室（Dunwoody)を始めました:

YAMAOKA先生の初回の「池坊いけばな教室」が始まりました。今回はDunwoody教室です。お教室は自宅の一角にある部屋で、こじんまりとした外を眺めながらお稽古ができるお教室です♪　こちらは、お教室にあるかわいい小さなリースのかざりです。白を貴重としたお教室☆

Ikenobo Ikebana classes in Dunwoody by Yamaoka started.  The class is in a cute-cozy room at Yamaoka's home where we can overlook the backyard. The class room is painted in fresh-white color and there is a cute petite wreath on a wall.

 

 

お教室には、 洋風、和風、いけばな用の花瓶や入れものがづらり。

 There are many Western & Japanese vases and containers displayed in the class room.

 

初回は「自由花」から。今日は"線：横"のおけいこです。花材の量が少ないので、「すぐに終わっちゃうのかな・・・」と思いきや、なかなかむずかしい。。。けれど、とても楽しい！心がなごみます♪ 先生も丁寧に教えてくださいます。
The lesson today is "Jiyuka - Free Style".  Students learned "the horizontal line" of this styly.  Very small amount of flowers made us think the lesson will be done in a short amount of time... yet the lesson was challenging, and it took longer than they thought.  Although, the lesson was so much fun!  Yamaoka (Ikenobo Ikebana teacher) teaches the students in detailed and easy-to-understand matters. 

 

 

今日の花材は、アリストメリア、小菊、アスター、うんりゅう柳、南天の葉（紅葉したもの）。そして、こちらが作品のBefore （生徒さん自作）、After（先生の手直し）　です♪

 Floral materials used for this class were Alstroemeria, Dasiy, Aster, Curly Willow, and Nandia leaves.  Here are BEFORE (arranged by a student) and AFTER (revised by Yamaoka).

池坊いけばなレッスン: Ikenobo Ikenobo Lesson

今日のお稽古は「自由花：線」。たての線のお勉強です。テーマはクリスマスです。いけばなの練習でクリスマスがテーマとはビックリ。

 Today's lesson was "Jiyuka: line".  We practiced the line "Tate" (vertical line). It was surprising that Christmas could be a theme for Ikebana.
