ダンウッディークラスのレポート：Report from Dunwoody Class

今週のクラスは“ハロウィーン”をイメージした花材を使っていけばなをしていました。こちらは通常のお稽古の作品。

This is the report from Dunwoody Class.  We used botanical materials which have more colors for Halloween :)  Here is a sample arrangement done by one of the students, Miho.

お稽古の後、今日は特別に思考を変えて、お稽古をした作品にもう少し枝などを加えてハロウィーンらしくアレンジをしてみました。これはちょっと池坊いけばなのお稽古から離れますが、ちょっとホリデーも楽しむことに♪　クモの飾りを枝につけたり、接着剤でクモの巣も作ってみました！お子さん、ご家族の皆さんが喜んでくれるでしょうか。

After the regular class session, we made the arrangements we just created more for Halloween.  Use our creativity to make our arrangements by adding branches with a spider, bat, ghost,  and pumpkin decors!  It is not a Ikenobo Ikebana lesson, but we just added the fun to our class in this holiday season.  We made a spider web with glue too!  Hope your children and/or family enjoy your arrangements!

Dunwoodyクラスの生徒さんの作品です。自由花です。
Here are some samples of our students from our Duwoody class.  They are "Jiyuka (free-style)" arrangements.

いけばなと言うと、堅苦しいイメージに感じられますが、洋花（フラワーアレンジ）と同様、ここのクラスでは、まず“花に親しむ”もお稽古の一環となっています。最初から剣山でなく、難しいときにはオアシスで。お花の性質を知ることも、今後のいけばなに役立ちます。

It sounds really like Ikebana is difficult and foreign to you for floral arrangements.  Believe or not, just like in western style arrangements, we have sessions to learn about botanical materials along with our lessons of Ikebana.  You don't have to use Kenzan from the beginning.  We use oasis for our lessons in order to learn about flowers and plants.  The sessions are very helpful for more advanced Ikebana lessons in the future.
